D23 2026: Everything Announced at Disney’s Ultimate Fan Event

D23 2026 has officially wrapped, and Disney fans have been given a huge look at what is coming next across movies, television, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney Parks, gaming and more.

Held in Anaheim, California, from August 14–16, 2026, D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event brought together thousands of fans for three days of exclusive announcements, trailers, first looks, celebrity appearances, merchandise, collectibles and experiences.

From the new X-Men cast and Avengers: Doomsday footage to Frozen 3, Coco 2, Incredibles 3, Tangled, Kingdom Hearts IV, new Disney Parks lands and attractions, D23 2026 delivered major announcements across almost every corner of the Disney universe.

Disney Entertainment Showcase

The headline entertainment presentation took place at the Honda Center, with Disney showcasing upcoming movies, television series and streaming projects.

The showcase included appearances from some of Disney's biggest stars and exclusive footage from a huge number of upcoming projects.

Among the biggest announcements were:

Disney described the showcase as an evening filled with first looks, exclusive footage, musical performances and major announcements covering its film studios, television brands, streaming services and live entertainment.


Marvel

Marvel was one of the biggest attractions at D23 2026.

X-Men Cast Revealed

Marvel Studios officially revealed the principal cast for its upcoming X-Men movie.

The new lineup includes:

  • Sadie Sink — Jean Grey

  • Kit Connor — Cyclops

  • Samara Weaving — Emma Frost

  • Inde Navarrette — Rogue

  • Christopher Abbott — Professor X

  • Maya Boyd — Storm

  • Adam Driver — Mister Sinister

The film is being directed by Jake Schreier and is scheduled for release in May 2028.

The announcement represents one of the biggest developments yet for Marvel's next generation of X-Men characters.

Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel also gave fans another look at Avengers: Doomsday.

The footage included major appearances and connections to the wider Marvel universe, including Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and the return of Chris Evans as Captain America.

The movie continues to build toward a massive crossover event involving characters from across Marvel's cinematic history.

VisionQuest

Marvel also unveiled VisionQuest, a new Disney+ series featuring Paul Bettany as Vision and James Spader as Ultron.

The project expands the story established through WandaVision and brings one of Marvel's most recognisable characters back to the screen.


Star Wars

Star Wars also had a major presence at D23.

Star Wars: Starfighter

One of the biggest Star Wars announcements was Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling.

Gosling plays Kade Auberon, with the film set to explore a new story within the Star Wars universe.

The movie is being positioned as a standalone adventure rather than another chapter of the Skywalker saga.

Ahsoka Season 2

Fans were also treated to a new look at Ahsoka Season 2.

The second season continues the story of Ahsoka Tano and the characters introduced through the first season and the wider Star Wars Rebels storyline.

A new teaser was shown at D23, giving fans another glimpse at what is coming to Disney+.


Pixar

Pixar had a major presence at D23, with several new films revealed or updated.

Incredibles 3

The Parr family is returning.

Disney and Pixar showed an exclusive first look at Incredibles 3, bringing Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack back for another adventure.

The film is directed by Peter Sohn and is scheduled to arrive exclusively in cinemas on June 16, 2028.

Coco 2

One of Pixar's most beloved worlds is also returning.

Coco 2 was confirmed during the D23 showcase, bringing audiences back into the world of Miguel and the Land of the Dead.

The sequel is currently scheduled for 2029.

Ghost Market

Pixar also revealed Ghost Market, another upcoming animated feature.

The project is scheduled for 2028 and adds another original story to Pixar's expanding film lineup.


Frozen 3

Disney gave fans another look at Frozen 3, with Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad appearing during the showcase.

The cast performed music from the upcoming film and offered fans a glimpse at what is ahead for Anna, Elsa and Olaf.

The Frozen franchise remains one of Disney's biggest global properties, making the third movie one of the most anticipated animated releases on the company's upcoming schedule.


The Bluey Movie

Australian fans have another huge reason to be excited.

Bluey is heading to the big screen.

D23 provided fans with a first look at The Bluey Movie, marking the popular Australian series' move into feature-length cinema.

The movie is scheduled for an August 2027 release.

With Bluey already one of the world's biggest children's entertainment properties, the movie is expected to be a major event for families and fans around the world.


Tangled Live Action

Disney also provided new details on its upcoming live-action Tangled movie.

The film will feature:

  • Teagan Croft — Rapunze

  • Milo Manheim — Flynn Rider

  • Kathryn Hahn — Mother Gothe

  • Caitríona Balfe — Queen Ariann

  • Elliot Cowan — King Frederi

The movie is currently scheduled for March 31, 2028.

The D23 presentation included a message from Croft and Manheim, who were filming in Spain at the time of the event.


Oswald Returns

One of Disney's oldest characters is getting a major comeback.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is returning in a new live-action/animation hybrid series.

The project celebrates Disney's early animation history while bringing Oswald to a new generation.

The series is scheduled for release in 2027.


The Princess Diaries 3

Another major return was The Princess Diaries 3.

Anne Hathaway appeared at D23 and was also recognised as a Disney Legend.

The third film continues the story of Mia Thermopolis more than two decades after the original movie.

The film is currently in production.


Disney Gaming

D23 wasn't just about movies and television.

Disney Games revealed several major projects.

Kingdom Hearts IV

One of the biggest gaming announcements was a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV.

The game is scheduled for late 2027 and will feature a world inspired by Pixar's Coco, bringing characters including Miguel and Hector into Sora's next adventure.

A new Kingdom Hearts animated series was also announced for Disney Channel and Disney+.

Marvel's Wolverine

Insomniac Games, Marvel Games and Sony revealed another trailer for Marvel's Wolverine.

The game launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 15.

Star Wars Comes to Fortnite

Disney and Epic Games also expanded their collaboration with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Fortnite.

The new experience connects the physical Galaxy's Edge attraction with a digital Star Wars adventure inside Fortnite.


Disney Parks

For theme-park fans, the Disney Experiences Showcase was arguably just as exciting as the movie announcements.

Disney revealed major projects across its parks around the world.

Villains Land

One of the biggest Walt Disney World announcements was the development of Villains Land.

The new land will focus on Disney's most famous villains and is expected to feature major attractions, including a multi-villain roller coaster.

Cars at Magic Kingdom

A new Cars-themed area is also coming to Magic Kingdom.

The project will transform the Tom Sawyer Island area into an automotive adventure inspired by the world of Cars.

Monstropolis

Disney's Hollywood Studios will receive a new Monsters, Inc. land called Monstropolis.

The land will feature:

  • A suspended Monsters, Inc. roller coaster

  • Shops

  • Restaurants

  • Monsters University elements

  • New entertainment experiences

The land is expected to open in 2027.

Tropical Americas

Animal Kingdom's Tropical Americas development continues, with an Indiana Jones attraction and an Encanto-themed experience among the major additions.

The Yeti Returns

Perhaps one of the most unexpected announcements was the return of the Yeti animatronic to Expedition Everest.

Disney confirmed that the legendary Yeti will once again be brought back to life.

Journey Into Imagination

EPCOT's Journey Into Imagination is getting a complete reimagining.

Even better for longtime Disney fans, Figment is returning — along with Dreamfinder.


Disneyland

Disneyland Resort also received several major announcements.

Coco Attraction

A new Coco attraction is coming to Disneyland Resort.

The experience will bring the world of Miguel and his family to life in a new immersive attraction.

Avengers Campus Expansion

Disney also confirmed a major expansion of Avengers Campus, increasing the size of the Marvel-themed area.

Reimagined Tomorrowland

Disneyland's Tomorrowland will also undergo a major reimagining as Disney looks to refresh one of the park's most recognisable areas.


Disney Parks Around the World

The announcements weren't limited to the United States.

Disney revealed projects and updates for international parks including:

  • Disneyland Paris

  • Tokyo Disneyland

  • Hong Kong Disneyland

  • Shanghai Disney Resort

Disneyland Paris will receive a Lion King-themed area, while Tokyo will receive a new Wreck-It Ralph attraction and a reimagined Space Mountain.

Hong Kong and Shanghai will also receive new Marvel experiences.


Disney Cruise Line

Disney also provided updates on the future of Disney Cruise Line, with additional ships and experiences planned as the cruise fleet continues to expand.

Disney's cruise business has become an increasingly important part of the wider Disney Experiences division.


Disney Legends

D23 2026 also celebrated the people who helped shape Disney's history.

The 2026 Disney Legends class included major names from across Disney's history, including:

  • Anne Hathaway
